The Three Regis were roughly forty to fifty meters tall.
This size was already far beyond what appeared in the anime and was quite fitting for Tier Two Legends.
Among all Tier Two Legendary Pokémon, these three pillars were among the largest—and might even grow larger still.
As for the distant Regigigas, that was something else entirely.
From Dak's point of view, everything below Regigigas's knees was submerged beneath the sea, while everything above its waist reached into the clouds. Dak could only see the massive shadow looming beyond the clouds, unable to make out the full form of Regigigas.
That height was beyond anything Dak could even estimate.
Even the elephant ancestor Zunesha from the seafaring world would be like a toy in Regigigas's hands.
All Dak could say was: Regigigas was, without question, the largest Legendary Pokémon he had ever seen. Period.
Regigigas, seemingly realizing it was far too big to even see what was going on, began shrinking its body while walking toward the shore.
Though the Three Regis didn't seem particularly clever, they still followed their leader's example and began shrinking as well.
After two to three minutes—
The Three Regis had reduced themselves to about 1.8 meters in height, the smallest they could manage.
Regigigas's smallest form, on the other hand, was 3.7 meters—still massive by comparison.
"Welcome to this world," Dak said with a wave and a smile to the four Pokémon, feeling a silent sigh of relief in his heart.
Thankfully, he hadn't summoned them directly in Lumiose City earlier—he might have caused a catastrophe.
At that moment, a round, chubby head popped out of the sea nearby.
Kyogre.
"It's okay, Kyogre. Just a few new friends here."
Dak turned his gaze to the big-headed whale, already guessing what had happened.
Regigigas's movement through the sea earlier had caused huge disturbances—each step sending massive waves through the water, which naturally alerted the ocean's sovereign, Kyogre.
Especially with that divine aura radiating off Regigigas.
That kind of presence suddenly emerging in Kyogre's domain with such grand commotion would, in the Pokémon world, be considered a provocation—Kyogre would almost certainly have retaliated.
However, the Kyogre living on Pokémon Island was still a recently-born child—pure-hearted and gentle in temperament.
Moreover, most of the Legendary Pokémon on the island were friends. It was normal for them to occasionally drop by each other's territories.
So Kyogre didn't act aggressively—just came to check things out.
"Diri-duru~"
The Four Regis raised their arms and waved, emitting odd electronic sounds as they greeted Kyogre.
Kyogre responded by slapping its large fins in reply.
After that, Dak began bringing the four pillars to their respective destinations.
First—
He had to consider the original reason he summoned these four guardians: the World Gate in the magical world.
After weighing his options and comparing their abilities—
Dak decided to place Regice, the Ice Regi, within the sacred sanctuary to guard the World Gate.
To be honest, Dak thought putting Regice there might be overkill.
That sanctuary was about to be sealed off by Palkia using Spacial Rend, turning it into an isolated pocket dimension—nothing could get in or out.
Even if someone somehow got in, without the power of the Four Void Sorcerers, they couldn't open the gate.
Even if they did open the gate, anyone coming through would still be trapped in that isolated space.
With so many layers of protection, tossing in a Tier Two Legendary to guard it really felt like overdoing it.
But Dak had promised the elves, and he truly didn't want that gate opened, especially not by people from Earth discovering other worlds.
So adding Regice for extra security wasn't a bad call.
As for why Regice and not one of the other three?
That came down to both avoiding overkill and suitability.
First, comparing to Regigigas—
Sending a Tier One Legend like Regigigas to guard that gate was like using a butcher's blade to kill a chicken.
The magical world wasn't strong to begin with—just one Tier Two Legend would be enough to play god over there, so there was no need to waste Regigigas's potential.
Plus, in the cramped sanctuary, Regigigas wouldn't be able to unleash its full strength anyway.
Compared to Regirock and Registeel, Regice could exert the greatest combat power in the magical world.
Let's break down Regice's two major advantages:
First, against warriors:
Its body is surrounded by cold air at -200°C, immune even to lava. Anyone who gets near it risks being frozen solid.
It's practically a melee killer.
Especially in a world where most warriors are weak, they wouldn't even get close to Regice before becoming ice sculptures.
Forget attacking with weapons—they'd freeze just trying to approach.
Second, against mages:
Among the Three Regis, Regice has the highest special defense, with a base stat of 200.
That means it's extremely resistant to special attacks.
And since most mages in the magical world are only "triangle" level—
Even if dozens of "rectangle" level mages teamed up and unleashed their strongest forbidden spells, they likely wouldn't deal much damage to it.
Regirock specializes in physical defense. Registeel has decent all-around defenses but is still inferior to the other two in specific matchups.
So all in all—
Regice was the best choice to guard the World Gate in the magical world.
Of course, the other three wouldn't be sitting idle either—there were plenty of places that needed guarding.
Too many to list.
Yggdrasil had Celebi and Mew stationed there permanently.
But other key cities like Lumiose, Angel City, and Fishman City, as well as the soon-to-be-built Floating Battle City, Aincrad—
None of those had a permanent Legendary Pokémon guardian.
Especially Angel City and Aincrad floating in the sky, and Fishman City underwater—
If disaster struck, the citizens would have nowhere to run and could easily be trapped.
So deploying Legends to protect these cities as a safeguard made perfect sense.
At the very least—
They'd hold the line until roaming Legends like Giratina, Rayquaza, Ho-Oh, Lapras, or Sarasa could arrive.
Under Dak's plan—
Regirock was sent to the tenth floor—top level—of Aincrad.
Normally, Regirock would sleep there. In an emergency, its city lord, Akihiko Kayaba, would awaken it.
Of course, Regirock would also awaken automatically if it sensed intense tremors or danger.
Registeel was assigned to the central temple of Angel Island, with similar conditions to Regirock's post.
Fishman City was a bit trickier.
Located underwater and largely submerged, its guardian needed to be a Water-type Legend.
Those were rare.
Dak chose the Mythical Pokémon known as the Prince of the Sea—Manaphy.
After exchanging for Manaphy, he summoned it immediately.
Manaphy was similar in size to Mew and Celebi—small and adorable.
"Mana?"
When Manaphy appeared, it looked completely confused.
Dak immediately understood.
This Manaphy wasn't a system-created newborn—it was a Manaphy pulled from one of the infinite parallel worlds of the Pokémon universe.
Now that was funny.
Most Mythical Pokémon are one-of-a-kind beings.
This Manaphy arriving on Pokémon Island meant its home world now lacked a Manaphy.
"Hello there, cutie."
Dak took a deep breath and decided to conveniently forget that part. He scooped up Manaphy and gave it a gentle squeeze.
The little guy was soft and cool, like a balloon filled with icy water—very comfortable to hold.
Especially since Pokémon Island was just entering autumn and the weather was still hot.
As for that world…
Even if the sea no longer had a Manaphy, it probably didn't matter, right?
Manaphy's presence didn't have a vital impact on the ocean.
Or rather, most Tier Two Pokémon were like this—their existence wasn't essential like that of Tier Ones.
"Mana~"
Manaphy looked up at Dak and instantly felt close to him, raising its two tiny arms and waving.
This little guy had amazing adaptability—accepting its new world in no time.
Dak told Manaphy he'd find it a new home, and the Pokémon happily responded with a melodious chirp.
He personally carried Manaphy to Ryugu Castle in Fishman City and introduced it to Mayor Neptune—who was startled by Dak's sudden appearance.
Neptune was very welcoming to Manaphy's arrival.
He didn't believe Pokémon Island would ever fall into chaos. In his eyes, a world filled with gods and peace wouldn't attract troublemakers.
At least, not while Dak was still the League Champion.
And natural disasters? Completely unreasonable.
This was an inland sea, not a real ocean—basically a giant lake.
No whirlpools, tsunamis, or typhoons to worry about.
He welcomed Manaphy for one reason only: he was lonely.
Princess Otohime lived permanently in Yggdrasil, fulfilling her role as the World Tree's guardian.
His eldest son, Fukaboshi, worked as a Water-type Gym Leader in the seafaring world.
His second and third sons were studying at the Pokémon Academy.
His youngest daughter was traveling the world, competing in Coordination Contests.
Neptune had become an empty-nester, alone in the vast Ryugu Castle, burdened with managing all the affairs of Fishman City.
He was exhausted.
Now with such a cute little companion to keep him company, the old man was so delighted he practically rolled on the floor with joy.
