Upon hearing Lily Turner agree to accept it, Luke Crowe didn't dare to delay and immediately handed over what he had in his hands. After Lily took it, he turned around and left to report back.
"Miss Turner! In the future, I hope you keep your mouth shut." Before leaving, Luke gave Lily a pointed warning.
What the hell?!
Bam!
Lily forcefully slammed the door shut. Now that the house was hers, she could do whatever she wanted with it. If she weren't afraid of implicating others, she would've loved to set it on fire.
Lily didn't even glance at the contents of the envelope. She walked into the room and casually tossed it into the nightstand drawer, shutting it with a snap. She then lay down on the large bed facing the ceiling.
Perfect! Today she'd hide here and avoid that meaningless wedding, and in the evening, she'd go home to see how things unfolded.
Hiding here, Lily could never have imagined that her absence played perfectly into Henry Thompson's plans. Not only did he gracefully call off the engagement, but he also shifted all the blame onto her, and he did it all in front of so many reporters.
Now is the information age, and the news about this wedding spread quickly, causing quite a stir.
"Boss! Look at this!"
During the lunch break, Luke Crowe rushed into Easton Holmes' lounge with a tablet in hand. In his haste to show his boss, he even forgot to announce himself and barged right in.
Seeing Luke rush in frantically, Easton, who was about to take a nap, frowned in displeasure, and his face instantly turned sour, "Luke! Did you get bombed?"
"No! I just saw an explosive piece of news..."
"Where's the explosion?"
Hearing Luke mention seeing explosive news, Easton immediately thought of an actual explosion and stepped over to Luke, snatching the tablet from his hands as he approached.
The moment the tablet was in front of his face, a large photo of Lily Turner appeared without warning in Easton's sight, causing his eyebrows to furrow slightly.
He was about to toss the tablet back to Luke when the headline on the right side of the photo suddenly caught his eye.
"Goddess Lily Turner's Last-Minute Wedding Run-off, Wealthy Boyfriend Chooses Forgiveness!"
That woman was getting married today?!
But why did she do what she did last night? Looking for thrills on the eve of her wedding?
Why does this wealthy boyfriend look a bit familiar?
Easton zoomed in on the photo on the tablet, and as soon as it enlarged, his eyebrows furrowed tightly.
It's that man!
"Boss! Are you okay?"
Easton's furrowed-brow action seemed unusual to Luke, who began to secretly wonder if his boss had fallen for the goddess Lily and was feeling upset that she had a wealthy fiancé.
"You brat! Don't bring me this kind of nonsense again, or else..."
"I absolutely won't dare show you these things again. I won't disturb your rest any further." Luke snatched the tablet back from Easton and dashed out of the lounge, afraid that if he didn't run fast enough, he'd be in trouble.
After Luke left, Easton no longer felt sleepy. He had initially planned to rest but instead changed his direction towards the desk. He sat down in his special chair and reached out to reopen the computer he had just shut down.
