Chapter 85 - Skies Of Fire

───「 Human POV 」───

The storm finally began to dissipate.

The abnormal weather system that had swirled above southwestern Australia for three days gradually broke apart, allowing sunlight to penetrate through thinning clouds.

This unprecedented meteorological phenomenon had drawn the attention of every surveillance satellite orbiting above Australia, their lenses focused intensely on the affected region.

"Storm dissipation at 87 percent," reported Lieutenant Harding at the Global Defense Command Center. "Visual confirmation expected in approximately twelve minutes."

Military and civilian analysts watched their monitors with bated breath as the atmospheric disturbance cleared. After three days without visual contact, they were desperate to see what had become of Godzilla and its surroundings.

Then, as the final wisps of the storm scattered, they beheld what they had been waiting to see.

The figure of Earth itself made flesh.

Godzilla—now towering five hundred meters tall with a dramatically more robust form—stood surrounded by completely unfamiliar and incomprehensible life forms that defied all biological classification.

The satellites captured everything, faithfully broadcasting their footage to command centers worldwide.

"This is impossible," whispered Dr. Alvarez, her coffee cup slipping from her fingers and shattering on the floor. Nobody noticed.

People watching the satellite broadcasts couldn't find any word other than "absurd" to describe what they were seeing.

"Three days!" shouted General McKenzie, slamming his fist on the conference table. "Just three days! It transformed hundreds of square kilometers of ecosystem into... into THIS? What scientific principle could possibly explain this?"

Defense Secretary Williams leaned forward, squinting at the footage. "It hasn't consumed any visible resources. How did it gain such mass? Is it creating matter from nothing?"

"And that storm," added Meteorological Director Chen, "why did it form precisely when Godzilla was evolving, only to dissipate once the transformation was complete?"

"Is there some unknown force protecting it?" asked the Prime Minister of Australia, his voice barely above a whisper.

The analysts who rushed back to their monitoring stations after Godzilla awakened found themselves completely unable to assess the situation with existing parameters.

After a round of frustrated discussions, they could only compile the most basic observations and forward them to the emergency world summit already in progress.

Since they couldn't understand what had happened to Godzilla, they preferred to defer to the explanations of the assembled scientific experts.

Meanwhile, world leaders—already engaged in intense discussions about the approaching Ghidorah threat—were equally bewildered after receiving the latest data.

"All this happened in just three days?" President Garcia asked, removing her glasses to massage the bridge of her nose.

Although they knew Godzilla was evolving and that this process differed from previous metamorphoses (after all, Godzilla hadn't entered dormancy this time), they were still overwhelmed by the speed of the transformation.

"We have enough problems with Ghidorah approaching," said the Russian President grimly. "Why has Godzilla awakened now? Previous evolutionary cycles lasted over ten days. Why only three days this time?"

The NATO Secretary-General nodded in agreement. "Underground shelters worldwide are being constructed at maximum speed, and civilian evacuations began today. All of human civilization is preparing for battle against Ghidorah in three days."

"If Godzilla decides to attack population centers in East Asia or Europe at this moment..." The Chinese Premier left the sentence unfinished.

Everyone understood the implications. Godzilla possessed the uncanny ability to detect human concentrations. It could potentially target the underground shelters humans had established.

"Our shelter networks don't have fully developed transportation systems," noted the Japanese Prime Minister. "If Godzilla attacks, civilians would have no escape route."

The American President's face hardened. "If necessary, deploy the Oxygen Destroyer."

A murmur rippled through the assembly.

"If Godzilla attempts to leave Australian waters in the coming days," she continued, "we've authorized use of the Oxygen Destroyer. Even if it renders the entire Southeast Asian archipelago uninhabitable, we must prevent Godzilla from reaching mainland Asia."

With this grim resolution, world leaders turned their attention back to the monitors displaying the awakened titan.

───「 GODZILLA POV 」───

After awakening, Godzilla immediately looked skyward, its gaze fixing on the satellites observing from orbit.

Godzilla's calm eyes assessed the artificial objects circling high above. Having absorbed information about the approaching Ghidorah threat through its connection with the new ecosystem, it had decided to temporarily postpone its conflict with humanity.

After all, both humans and Godzilla were life forms native to Earth. No matter how destructive humans had been, this was a family dispute. It wasn't Ghidorah—the star-killer—who should pass judgment.

So Godzilla determined that it would first repel the Ghidorah threat in cooperation with humans.

Then it would address the human problem, either expelling them from Earth entirely or, if they were willing to accept their place in the natural order, transforming them into components of the new ecosystem.

Since evolving into Godzilla Earth, it had gained the ability to release the Godzilla virus—capable of infecting ordinary life forms and converting them into something new.

The process could transform existing organisms into life forms compatible with Godzilla's ecosystem.

Although untested on humans, this transformation should theoretically work on them as well.

Now, Godzilla saw an alternative to human extermination.

It could transform all of humanity into new life forms, requiring them to surrender their human identity and re-enter the natural cycle.

But they would likely reject this path—to humans, such transformation would mean becoming "beasts."

Contemplating this, Godzilla considered several new objectives that had manifested in its consciousness, particularly the newly added attribute: [Overall Ecosystem Level].

Perhaps, in the not-too-distant future, its ecosystem might include more than just animals.

But human concerns could wait. Godzilla turned its attention toward the stars.

To confront the imminent Ghidorah threat, it needed a new ability—the capacity to track enemies and monitor the entire Earth-Moon system.

With such capability, it could strike against Ghidorah before it reached Earth's atmosphere.

The speed of energy weapons would ensure adequate attack range. All that remained was acquiring this ability.

And the requirement for unlocking this power...

Was to destroy one thousand human satellites.

So, humans, although we will soon fight side by side, for now...

I must destroy one thousand of your orbital machines.

───「 Human POV 」───

"Energy buildup detected!" shouted the monitoring technician, panic evident in his voice. "Massive radiation signature across multiple wavelengths!"

Standing firmly on the ground, Godzilla employed a completely new offensive capability. After evolving into Godzilla Earth, its body now contained countless specialized channels.

It could release energy discharges in all directions simultaneously!

In terms of raw power, this omnidirectional attack exceeded even its conventional focused beam.

Although the range was insufficient to reach orbital targets directly, the energy field's massive dispersal area compensated for this limitation.

"My God," whispered Secretary Williams. "What is it doing?"

"Targeting our satellite network," replied the NASA director, horror dawning on his face. "It's targeting every satellite within line of sight."

The President's face went pale. "Evacuate all space stations. Now."

Godzilla's massive dorsal plates erupted with blinding light.

Countless energy beams shot upward from its back, converging into a cloud of plasma tens of kilometers above the ground.

The expanding fireball rose higher and higher, reaching toward the edge of the atmosphere, where hundreds of satellites maintained their silent vigil.

At the Global Defense Command Center, monitor after monitor went dark.

"We've lost sixty-three satellites," reported Lieutenant Harding, voice shaking. "Seventy-eight... one hundred and five... still climbing."

The command center fell silent as humanity watched its eyes in the sky burn away one by one.
