Chapter 7 - Chapter 7

Mr Rude And Little Cub

When Xavier reached the gates of his house, he was met with someone he never expected to see. This person was Iris Holloway, his childhood friend, whom he hadn't seen in years. But what was Iris doing here at this time? Xavier asked himself.

"Hi, Xavier," Iris greeted.

"Hello," Xavier responded with a straight, cold face.

"Do you remember me, Xavier? Maybe you've really forgotten me, your childhood sweetheart, Iris," she said, blinking her eyes cutely.

"And who told you I don't remember you, Miss Holloway?" Xavier replied coolly. "And for your information, you were my friend. You couldn't even be considered a childhood sweetheart, so I suggest you think before running that stupid mouth of yours."

"Xavier, have these 6 years of separation affected you so much that you don't even want to talk to me? I just came back from New Zealand to see you, but it seems you're not happy to see me," Iris said in a fake crying tone.

Iris thought this action would make Xavier's heart soften, but what she received was a disgusted glare.

"State your purpose for being here. I don't have time for pests," Xavier said angrily.

Iris was shocked. In all her life, nobody had ever called her a pest before. Even some guys would fall over themselves for her beauty. But here she was, in front of someone she had loved so much that she would have killed herself for him. But she would never give up.

Iris was in New Zealand when she heard that Xavier had a fiancé. The news was enough to drive her crazy. That's why, after landing from the airport, she headed straight to Xavier's house.

"I want to stay with you today, in your house," Iris said, but Xavier sneered and replied, "Why? Don't you have a home? Or are you poor now?"

"No, the thing is, my parents moved from where they were, and I don't know where they are now," Iris said, pouting.

"If you don't know where they are, then go to a hotel to sleep there so you can leave tomorrow, Miss Holloway," Xavier said coldly.

"But I don't have money. Let me spend the night here, okay?" Iris said with a babyish tone.

Xavier tossed her a card. "Have this card and go to the hotel. If the receptionist sees it, they'll give you a room to sleep in," he retorted. "But if you don't want it, fine, I don't mind leaving you on the street."

Iris, frustrated, shot back, "Is it because of that slut of a fiancé of yours in the house? I bet many people have used her for their pleasure."

Xavier turned to look at Iris with a dangerous glint in his eyes. "You've gone too far, and it seems you know more than I thought," he said coldly.

"No, no, no, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that," Iris stammered.

"Get the fuck out of here before I call the security guards to drag you away. Get the hell out," Xavier spat.

Xavier, anger flashing in his eyes as he left and entered the gates. He stormed inside the house, made her way to his room, and threw herself on the bed after removing his clothes took a bath and fell asleep.

The Next Morning

The next day, Deyna got up early, prepared for the interview, and took her latest Rolls Royce to the company. When she arrived, she was stunned. The building was a towering skyscraper. Her heart fluttered with excitement. She knew that the president always worked on the top floor, and since she was applying to be the president's secretary, she couldn't help but squeal a little inside.

Taking a deep breath, Deyna entered the building and walked confidently to the receptionist's desk.

"Ma'am, please, I'm here for the interview," Deyna said politely.

"Go to the 15th floor, and please, feel free to take the elevator," the receptionist responded with a professional smile.

"Thanks, ma'am," Deyna replied, giving a polite bow before heading toward the elevator.

She soon located the interview room. When she stepped inside, she noticed a woman sitting gracefully on the couch. Deyna assumed this was the person who would be interviewing her.

"Good morning," Deyna greeted with a warm smile.

"Morning," the woman responded, just as warmly.

"I really like your office," Deyna said, admiring the cozy setting.

The woman, whose name was Esmeralda, chuckled. "I've always wanted this room to have a welcoming, homey feel."

Deyna sat down, and the interview began. Esmeralda asked several questions, and to her surprise, Deyna answered every single one with confidence and ease. No stuttering, no hesitation.

"Are you sure this is your first interview?" Esmeralda asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Yes. Did I do something wrong?" Deyna asked nervously.

"No, not at all," Esmeralda said, smiling. "You're just… perfect. Way too intelligent for your age."

"Thank you for the compliment, Ms. Esmeralda," Deyna said, blushing a little.

"Sincerely, don't thank me. I'm just stating the truth. And please don't call me 'Ms.' I feel like an old man when people say that," Esmeralda joked, pouting her lips playfully.

"Okay," Deyna laughed and, feeling a strange warmth between them, gave Esmeralda a quick hug before they parted ways.

When Deyna came out of the company building, she collided with someone on the way. It was clearly the other person's fault, yet he didn't even say sorry and just walked away. That made her blood boil. She ran after the man and shouted,

"Are you blind? Don't you have eyes?"

But the moment she saw his face, her words nearly caught in her throat. He was handsome—no, scratch that—he looked like a Greek god carved straight out of marble. The most attractive man she had ever laid eyes on.

The man flicked her forehead lightly and asked with a smirk, "Why are you holding onto my sleeve, little girl?"

That was enough to snap Deyna out of her trance.

"Just because you're handsome doesn't mean you have to be rude like an animal," she snapped, eyes flaring.

"Oh, so you mean I'm handsome?" he replied, clearly amused.

"Are you crazy? Just apologize!" she demanded.

The man gave a sarcastic apology. "I'm sorry, happy now?"

"Better. I didn't know you were such a good boy. Bye, Mr. Rude," Deyna said as she turned to leave.

"Bye, little cub," he replied with a teasing tone.

The guy Deyna had just quarreled with was none other than Xavier himself. He smirked to himself.

"I didn't know Deyna was such an interesting person. I wonder how surprised she'll be when she finds out that the guy she just quarreled with is her boss," he thought as he made his way to the office.

"Why do you think boss is smiling like that?" one employee asked.

"I think he's gotten himself a girlfriend because we all know him as a thousand-year iceberg that never melts," another replied.

"That's right. There's nobody who can make him smile, so maybe what you said is right. He's got himself a girlfriend, maybe."

"I think you guys want to be fired," a third employee muttered, shaking their head.
